Lloyd RichardsA Page for My Father,
Lloyd Richards

Lloyd Richards: Scholar, philosopher, warrior, clown. Affectionately referred to as "Gurububba" by those who seek his advice.

Here is an old fax I found from him when I was researching for "Annwyn, Beneath the Waves." It shows a great deal of his insight.

I asked him to speak on the Goddess, from his own point of view. As the only male voice on my CD, I thought it would be a fantastic opportunity to introduce him to those who have followed my music over the years. My father has had a great influence on me, his intelligence and depth of insight into the world is unmatched. He has never been an armchair philosopher, he has been in the thick of War, he has lost a wife (my mother) and daughter (my sister, Tami), he put up with my punk rock clothes, witchy shoes, cutting my hair down to a crewcut on my 16th birthday, . His comments on listening to my first album by Madhouse was "It's quite tribal, and I sure would like to understand the words better."

I've received numerous questions about my father, so here's a bit of history. My father was an English major who joined the Navy and became a top notch fighter pilot. He was shot down during the Vietnam War over Laos, broke his neck and shattered his legs, and lay there until (with amazing luck!) U.S. soldiers found him. He nearly died, and when he began to gather his strength, he was told he would never walk again, which is something you don't tell my father. Within a year he was back in the cockpit and back at the war.

He currently lives back in Washington State with my stepmother, Leola.
